03/27/12 -Elite Baseball adds Two More Signees to West Michigan Colleges (Jordan Drake & Derrick Lewis)
Elite Baseball has had two more players sign with West Michigan Colleges. Jordan Drake has signed to play with Grand Valley State University, and Derrick Lewis has commited to Cornerstone University. Drake, a senior from Lowell High School is a pitcher for Lowell and Elite Baseball's top 18U team coached by Jim Abbott. He will now continue his playing career as well as academic studies at Grand Valley State University. Derrick Lewis, a senior pitcher from West Catholic High School will be a part of the first ever Cornerstone Baseball Team. Derrick will be playing with Elite this summer and both athletes have been a part of the Elite program for many years! Congrats to both guys on their hard work and determination to take their games to the next level!
Drake and Lewis are the 17th and 18th Elite players to sign with college programs this year!
03/08/12-Levi Adrianson Committs to Hope College
Levi Adrianson of Jenison High School has recently committed to continue playing baseball for the Flying Dutchmen of Hope College. Adrianson, a senior outfielder has been a part of the Elite organization for numerous years. He is currently a part of the Elite 18U Gold team coached by Jim Abbott. Congrats to Levi and good luck with this baseball season as well as the 2012-2013 season with the Flying Dutchmen!
12/19/11-Elite Baseball Adds 9th Player to Division I Roster
Nate Stegman of Gull Lake High School has committed to continue his baseball career at Eastern Kentucky University. Nate, a RHP, will graduate in 2012 and start in the fall of 2013 at EKU. As a junior, Nate recorded an 11-1 record with a 1.19 ERA and 90 strikeouts. Stegman was also named as 1st Team All State selection. Nate is the 9th Baseball player, and 12th player overall to commit to a Division I program! Congrats to Nate and good luck at EKU!!
12/12/11-Elite has 11th Player Commit to Division I Program-Dylan Vanputten to CMU
Elite Baseball & Softball Training Facility has had their 11th player commit to a Division I program. Dylan VanPutten from Middleville High School has committed to play at Central Michigan University. Dylan, a 1B/OF has played for Elite Baseball for the last 5 years. He is currently a part of Coach Jim Abbott's Elite 18U Elite team. Dylan is the 8th player from Coach Abbott's team to commit to a Division I program this year, the most of any training facility in West Michigan! Congrats to Dylan and good luck at Central!!!
11/07/11- Elite Baseball & Softball Currently has 10 Athletes Committed to Division I Schools
Elite Baseball & Softball training facility is proud to announce that they have 10 Division I athletes committed to colleges already this year. There are 7 baseball players: Blake Hibbits, Cam Wysocki, Kurt Hoekstra, Drew Farmer, Tyler Baar, Kyle Slack, & Tony Dileo. Hibbits will be traveling to Alabama to compete at Stamford, Wysocki will be going to the University of Michigan, Hoekstra and Farmer will be traveling to Western Michigan University, Baar and Slack to the University of Toledo, and Dileo will be going to Eastern Michigan University. We also have 3 softball players that will be going Division I with Elaine Whitbeck, Evie Lorimer, and Dani Marlink. Lorimer and Marlink will be attending Central Michigan University, and Whitbeck will be going to Eastern Michigan University.
All of the players will also be competing on the Elite Summer Travel Teams. The guys will be playing for Coach Jim Abbott on the Elite 18U Gold team, and the girls for Michelle Brander on the 18U Softball team. Congrats to all of our athletes who have committed to schools at all levels and continue to excel on the field!
Spencer Goebel Commits to Spring Arbor College
Spencer Goebel of Northpointe Christian High School has committed to Spring Arbor College. Goebel, a right handed pitcher will begin the 2012-2013 season with Spring Arbor. Spencer also will play for Coach Jim Abbott on the Elite 18U Gold team. Congrats Spencer and Good Luck at Spring Arbor!
Blake Hibbits Commits to Division I Samford for Baseball & Basketball
Blake Hibbits of Hudsonville has committed to continue his athletic career at Division I Samford in Birmingham, Alabama. Blake, a senior pitcher at Hudsonville High School will also play for the top Elite Travel Baseball team coached by Jim Abbott. Good Luck to Blake as he travels to Alabama to continue his basketball and baseball career.
Kurt Hoekstra Commits to Western Michigan University
Kurt Hoekstra of Grand Rapids Christian High School has accepted an offer to play at Western Michigan University. Kurt, a senior Pitcher and Shortstop will begin in the fall of 2012. Kurt will also play on the Elite 18U Gold travel team this spring and summer. Congrats to Kurt on becoming a Bronco!

Elite Baseball Coach set to Run 60 Miles to Benefit Wounded Warrior Project
Elite Baseball Coach Tom Braun is set to run to the Michigan - Michigan State game on Saturday in East Lansing. Coach Braun will be running to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project with friend Tim Klaes. Braun is the coach of Elite's 11U Travel Baseball team and has been with the Elite program for a few years. Good Luck to Tom and Tim as they make the journey to East Lansing for an amazing cause!

Dave Joppie returns to Elite
Dave Joppie, hitting instructor for the Boston Red Sox organization has returned to Elite. Coach Joppie will start lessons 9/19 and run through January. He will offer 1 hour lessons slots Monday thru Wednesday. The lessons will be $45 per lesson and will be 2 kids for 1 hour. Contact Elite to sign up for your lessons with Joppie!
Brooke Agers & Taylor Lemke to Continue Career at MCC
Brooke Agers and Taylor Lemke have committed to continue playing softball at Muskegon Community College. Agers, a senior 3B from Hudsonville and Lemke a senior pitcher/2B from Jenison have been rivals during the high school school season, teammates on the Elite 18U travel team, and now they will continue to be teammates in college. MCC won the NJCAA national tournament in 2009 and they are looking to continue being dominate at the junior college level. Agers and Lemke will be great additions to the program! Congrats to both Brooke and Taylor!

Tyler Baar commits to Division I University of Toledo
Tyler Baar of Hudsonville High School has committed to play at the University of Toledo. Baar, a right handed pitcher from Hudsonville was named to the all-state team last year posting an 11-1 record on the mound. While at Toledo, Baar will most likely transition into a catching role for the Rockets. Tyler also plays for Coach Abbott on the Elite 18U travel baseball team. Baar is the 10th Elite player to commit to a Division I program for next year. Congratulations Tyler and Good Luck with Toledo!

CST Workouts Propel Brough to Opportunity with Phillies
Austin Brough of Clifton, Ill. has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. Brough, a left handed pitcher graduated from Western Illinois University in 2010. In 2011, Brough came to Michigan to work out in the CST program with Coach Mike Paul and made some mechanical adjustments in his delivery. Brough worked hard to get to where he is at now, his hard work and dedication to becoming a better player has helped him get his chance in the pros. He has recently been signed to the Phillies organization where he will play for the Williamsport Crosscutters. Congratulations Austin! We wish you the best of luck with the remainder of the season and many seasons to come!

Two More Elite Baseball Players Sign With Division I Programs
Elite Baseball has added 2 additional players to the list of Division I signees. 2012 graduate Tony Dileo, a catcher from Rockford High School has committed to Eastern Michigan University, and 2011 graduate Sean Cunningham, a pitcher from Forest Hills Northern has committed to Western Michigan University. Both of the players have had tremendous seasons and they are excited to be competing at the Division I level. Tony and Sean are the 8th and 9th players this year to be signed to Division I programs with many other athletes being signed to numerous colleges around the Midwest. Congrats to both Tony and Sean and good luck with the Eagles and Broncos!
Elite 14U Black Softball to Hold Fundraising Events
The Elite 14U Black Softball team will be holding a car wash fundraiser and a pop can drive to raise money for their trip to Tennessee. Elite 10U and 12U Red Softball Teams Had Big Weekend in Holland
The Elite 10U and 12U Red Softball teams took home first place trophies this past weekend in Holland. Elite 10U with Coach Vallad and Coach Davis went 5-0 on the weekend to take the first place trophy. The girls played great all weekend and keep making huge strides on the field. Elite 12U Red with Coach Kanai also had a great weekend and finished first at the Lakeside Blast Tournament in Holland. The girls keep working hard and it is paying off! Great job to both teams!!
TJ Hass Accepts Scholarship to Play at Bethel College
TJ Hass, of Rogers High School, has been awarded a baseball scholarship at Bethel College in Indiana. TJ, a former player and trainee at Elite is one of many Elite athletes that have accepted scholarships to play at the collegiate level. Great Job TJ, and Good Luck at Bethel!
Mick Vanvossen is Drafted by Texas Rangers in MLB Draft
Mick Vanvossen, of Forest Hills Central, was Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 49th round of the MLB Draft. Vanvossen, plays for Coach Abbott on the top 18U team at Elite, and he has previously accepted a scholarship offer from Michigan State. Vanvossen was the 1494th player selected. Congratulations Mick!!!
Nate Young lands at Elon on Pitching Scholarship
Nate Young, formally of Kalamazoo Christian and Lincoln Trail Community College has accepted a scholarship to play at Elon in North Carolina. Nate, a junior pitcher, originally attended Southeastern University in Florida, then transferred to Lincoln Trail his sophomore year, and now he will be attending Division I Elon University to complete his college baseball career.

Elite 12U Softball Wins Junefest Jamboree
Congratulations to the Elite 12U Black team for winning the Junefest Jamboree this past weekend in Potterville. The girls had an outstanding tournament going 5-0. The championship against the Michigan Warriors was a nail bitter. The girls played great defense to keep themselves in the game. Down 1 to 0 in the bottom of the 7th the girls rallied to tie the game and force play into an international tie breaker. The Warriors scored 2 in the top of the 8th but the girls never gave up. Rallying again the girls scored 3 runs to win the game! Great Job ladies!

Former Elite Softball standouts and current Ferris State University players Chelsea Morris and Stephanie Dusendang have been named to the 2011 Daktronics all midwest region teams. Morris, a junior first baseman from Jenison Michigan was also selected GLIAC player of the year. Dusenbang, a junior outfielder from Rockford, Michigan was selected as a 2nd Team All-GLIAC recipient. Elite Softball Takes Home Two First Place Trophies
Elite 14U:
The Elite 14u Red (Spring Team) rolled through the USSSA May Mania Tournament this weekend posting a 5-0 mark to kick their season off with a bang! The team registered several multiple base hits, including home-runs by Carrie Mesman and Kali Wynsma. On the defensive side of the ball, pitching was outstanding as 5-girls took to the hill and only allowed 5-runs in the 5-games played.
Elite met up with, and downed the Diamonds Black 14u team 12-3 in the finals. By winning this tournament, the 14u squad qualifies for the USSSA Nationals in Orlando, FL.
The 14u team looks to continue it’s good hitting, and solid defense this weekend in Holland and the Matt Urban ball fields.
Elite 12U:
Congratulations to the Michigan Elite 12U Black girls softball team for winning the USSSA May Mania tournament in Ada. The team went undefeated 4-0. The championship game, versus Outlaws Gold, was avery exciting game. The girls rallied twice and overcame deficits of 2 and 4 runs to eventually winning 10-6. Great job, girls! Way to show that never-say-die Elite spirit!
With the tournament wins, both teams have qualified for Nationals in Orlando, Florida! Great Job to both the 12U & 14U teams as the are off to a great start!!
Elite 13U Finishes First at Michigan BPA Tournament in Jackson
Coach Hamblin and Elite 13U Baseball finished in first place at the Michigan BPA tournament in Jackson on May 7 & 8. The team went 3-1 with a final game score of 11-4 over Saline. Great job guys!!!
Davenport University Softball wins WHAC Tournament
Davenport University's Softball team is headed to Alabama for the NAIA nationals after winning the WHAC conference tournament this past weekend. Davenport is lead by head coach Ronda Varnesdeel and Mccall Salmon who have built the DU program from scratch. The program was started only 3 years ago and now they are going to compete at the National level afer winning the regular season conference title and the conference tournament title! The Panthers are heading to Alabama with a 38-15 record on the season. Good Luck Panthers!
Chelsea Morris Earns GLIAC Softball Player of the Year
Chelsea Morris of Ferris State University, and formally of Jenison has been named the GLIAC player of the year. Morris, who has been having a great season with FSU currently leads her team in hits, doubles, homeruns, and rbi's. Chelsea has 51 base hits, 13 doubles, 9 homeruns, and 46 RBI's while slugging .646. Along with the GLIAC player of the year, Morris was also honored with the only Ferris State First Team All Conference selection. Congrats Chelsea and good luck with the rest of the season!
3 Elite Youth Baseball Teams Take 1st Place at the Holland Tournament
Elite 10U Braun, 11U Curtis, and 12U Mokma brought home 1st place hardware after the Holland Tournament April 30.
Elite 10U, coached by Tom Braun, went 3-1 against a very competitive field of teams from throughout the state. Coach Braun said it was a total team effort overall. Great pitching, timely hitting and tough defense lead the team to a 1st place! finish. Great job guys!
Coach Curtis and his 11U team also took home the first place trophy at the West Michigan Classic in Holland. This is the second tournament of the year that the 11U team has won, as they also won their first tournament of the year. The 11U team has been working hard and the entire team has been contributing to the wins! Nice work guys! Keep it up!
The 12U Elite team coached by Scott Mokma dominated in the 12U division. The team went a perfect 5-0 on the weekend while only giving up 10 runs and scoring 50! The team as a whole hit .504 and only made 2 errors defensively on the weekend. There were two games where the pitching staff only allowed 2 hits. A great team effort all weekend! Great job 12U!! Keep working hard!

Nate White of Hamilton High School and Shane Trevino of Hudsonville High School have both committed to Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW); Caleb Caton of Kalamazoo Loy Norix, Drew Farmer of Rockford High School, and Josh Deyoung of Zeeland West have all committed to Western Michigan University; Cam Wysocki of Forest Hills Northern has committed to the University of Michigan, and Mick Vanvossen of Forest Hills Central has committed to Michigan State University. Congrats to all of the guys who have put in the hard work!
Chelsea Morris of Jenison High School has Big Spring at Ferris State University
Chelsea Morris, of Jenison High School and Michelle Brander's Elite 18U team, has been having a big spring at the plate for Ferris State University. Morris, a junior first baseman is having the best season of her career. Chelsea is hitting .305 with 32 hits, and 19 runs scored this season. Morris is also leading the team in doubles (10), home runs (6), and RBI's (31). Great Job Chelsea!!!
Shane Trevino of Hudsonville signs with Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne
Shane Trevino of Hudsonville High School has committed and accepted a scholarship to play Division I baseball at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Shane an outfielder/pitcher for Hudsonville High School and Coach Abbott's 18U Elite Team, is the 7th player to commit to a Division I baseball program this winter and spring, more than any other training facility in West Michigan! Former Elite 18U Player Jack Scanlon Named MAC Player of the Week
Jack Scanlon, former Elite 18U player, has been named the MAC player of the week. Scanlon, a junior outfielder for Western Michigan University hit .500 (10-20) with a .600 slugging percentage, while driving in 6 RBI's. During the week, WMU went 5-1 and Scanlon recorded a hit in every game, currently he is riding a 7 game hitting streak. Scanlon is currently leading the Bronco's in batting average at .306! Congrats Jack and Good Luck with the rest of the season!
Cam Wysocki & Joey Caraccio Named Pre-season All Amerian Team
Cam Wysocki of Forest Hills Northern Hill School, and Joey Caraccio of Traverse City West High School have been name to the pre-season All American Team by Perfect Game. Cam and Joey are both Juniors and will be top pitchers for their high school, as well as for Jim Abbott's Elite 18U Travel Team. 5th Elite Player Accepts Division I Scholarship in 2010-2011
Caleb Caton a catcher ouf of Kalamazoo Loy Norix has accepted a scholarship offer from Western Michigan University head baseball coach Bill Gernon for the 2012 season. Caleb played for Coach Baar last summer on one of Elite Baseballs top teams. Caleb is the 5th player ouf of Elite this year to recieve a Division I scholarship, more than any other training facility in West Michigan. Elite has helped 73 athletes reach the Division I level in baseball. Congratulations Caleb and good luck at Western!
Elite 11U Baseball Wins Rumble on the River Tournament!!
Elite 11U Wave has won their first tournament of the year. The team traveled to Memphis Tennessee over the weekend to compete in the Rumble on the River Tournament where they finished in first place with a perfect 4-0 record. The team outscored their opponents 43-15 behind stellar pitching, and timely hitting! Coach Curtis & Coach Mann along with the 11U team will travel to Alabama April 9-10 for the Cotton States Classic! Congrats guys and good luck in Alabama!!!
Sam Goldschmeding signs with Kalamazoo Valley Community College Sam Goldschmeding of Allegan High School has accepted an offer to a baseball and continue his education at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Sam, a shortstop and pitcher for Allegan, will most likely play middle infield and pitch for the COugars at KVCC. Rockford Junior Drew Farmer has verbally accepted a scholarship offer from head coach, Bill Gernon of Division I, Western Michigan University. Brent Gates Fielding
Elite Baseball will offer a fielding clinic for players starting December 3, 2010. The clinic will have two sessions held on Friday nights from 4-5, and 5-6. The clinic will be held at Elite Baseball & Softball Training facility, 1100 Hynes Ave SW, Grand Rapids. It will be $25 per player per session. Former Major Leaguers to make appearance at Elite
Former Major League Catcher Mike Redmond, a 13 year major league catcher and former major league Pitcher Kirt Ojala, who played with the World Series champion Florida Marlins, will be making a guest appearance at Elite Baseball from 1130am-1230pm on Saturday, October 30th. the is an informal appearance and Mike and Kirt will talk briefly about their major league experiences and answer questions and sign autographs. Cam Wysocki Becomes Wolverine
Cam Wysocki of Forest Hills Northern, verbally committed to Coach Rich Maloney and the University of Michigan Wolverines Baseball Program for the 2012 season. As a sophomore at Forest Hills Northern, Cam had a .420 average with 13 doubles and 28 RBI's last year as well as a 3-1 pitching record. Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame , Alabama, Stanford, Kentucky, Western Michigan were among the schools recruiting Wysocki, but his first choice has always been the University Of Michigan.
"I have always wanted to play at Michigan," said Wysocki, " my father and mother met there. To play the sport I love at the place I love is a dream come true!".

Red Sox Hitting Instrutor to Train at Elite
Dave Joppie, hitting instructor for the Boston Red Sox will be starting lessons at Elite shortly. Coach Joppie will be at Elite Monday thru Thursday 4:15 - 7:15. All of Coach Joppie's lesson will be 1 hour long and will consist of two players. The cost will be $45 per player for the hour or 5- 1 hour sessions for $200, (sorry, no exceptions). Elite 16U & 18U Softball Shine at Nationals
West Michigan Elite Softball finsihed their seasons at Nationals this past week and weekend. The 16U Black team finished 16th out of 84 teams in Kentucky and the 18U Team finished 5th out of 44 teams! Great Job Ladies!!! Keep up the hard work!!!

Forest Hills Central Senior Mick Vanvossen has accepted a scholarship offer from head coach Jake Boss to play for the MSU Spartans in the fall of 2011. Mick is a pitcher/outfielder and is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the state of Michigan for 2011. Congrats Mick and good luck!
